(June 14, 2012) - Broad Run High School senior Jonathan Russell finished a brilliant prep career with a first place finish at the AAA state track and field meet earlier this month. Russell, who will run in college at South Carolina, ran a 37.95 to win the 300 meter hurdles by almost a full second. He was also 9th in the 200 meters.
Also on the boys side, Stone Bridge sophomore D'Ante Yarborough finished fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with a 14.56 finals.
The Freedom High School girls track and field 4x100 relay team of Amanda Salami, Toni Fletcher, Asia Brown and Cortney O'Connell turned in a 48.66 to place 7th overall.
Recently graduated Fletcher is headed to Coastal Carolina in the fall and Brown is attending VCU. O'Connell, a junior, is committed to play soccer at the University of Miami and Salami is a sophomore.
Eagles freshman Brandon Polk did not place in the top eight but he is a runner to watch out for as he qualified at States in the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay.
